Interior Design Project - The Smith Centre, The Science Museum, London
We were asked to work with the NMSI Architects, to supply all the furnishings for The Smith Centre, which was being created from part of The Science Museum in London. They particularly liked the fact that our chosen furniture makers are all British, and that it was all made here. The window treatment with Roman Blinds on all the arched windows, was designed by Fiona to be contemporary within a traditional building. The project was opened by Her Majesty the Queen in October 2006.
‘ We combine both the practical and the
aesthetic aspect of design in each project ’
Curtain Design
We had beautiful Edwardian arched windows to dress here, and our solution to make Roman Blinds with a broad trim worked really well. All the blinds were made in our own workroom.
Furniture Design
The client asked for a clean, classic look, with a contemporary feel, which we managed to achieve for them, using British Craftsmen and working on furniture designs for the hardwood pieces which would work within an Edwardian Building. We used a combination of oak and burr oak to make the Boardroom Table, consisting of a series of smaller tables which could be made up to seat up to 22 people. We also designed a combination of mahogany and glass occasional tables, for use in the Patron’s Sitting Reception Room, together with sofas and chairs.
‘Wherever possible, we use the expertise
of British furniture manufacturers’
